Core Values & Beliefs

Instead of just giving you a long diatribe of the things we believe (which you can also download and read below), we’d like to share with you some of the key values that give us direction as a church family.
We call these our Ministry Plumb Lines. They give us direction and clarity when
making decisions and doing what God has called us to do.

Our Core ValuesWhat We Believe

Our Mission & Vision

Love the Lord, Learn the Bible, Live the Gospel

So that together we can Build God’s Kingdom, Impact Our Community, and Change the World

This is where everything begins, with the mission and vision Jesus gave us as His followers and as His Church. The church is so much more than a club or social gathering you visit once in awhile. The church is on a God-given mission to share the love of Jesus with everyone, everywhere. Pinecrest’s mission is to help equip you to use the gifts God has given you to accomplish His mission in the places you live, work, and play.

The church comes together once a week (for around an hour on Sunday) to worship God together and encourage one another before going back out into our mission field and making a real difference. The church exists outside of the walls of the church building. That’s where we make the real difference God calls us to make.

Our Core Values

Ministry Plumb Lines

These are the values and principles that guide our direction and keep us focused on the mission and vision that God has given us to live out as a church body. These values inform and guide our decisions and actions.

Worship

Everything We Do is an Act of Worship to God.
And not just on Sunday but in the 167 hours of the rest of the week. We serve to please God not people. All of the other values originate from this core value.
(Romans 12:1; 1 Thessalonians 2:4; Ephesians 6:7)

Community

We Are a Church of Groups, Not a Church with a Groups Program.
Simply put, we believe that God created us to live in community with other believers and that’s how we learn and grow closer to Him and one another. Jesus was in a Group, the early church was built on the Group model, and we were created in God’s image to need community.
(Genesis 1:26-27; Luke 6:12-13; Acts 2:42-47)

Family

Regardless of Age, We’re All Active Participants in the Church.
Children and Youth are not the church of tomorrow, they are an important part of the church today. We don’t provide a child-care service during church, we engage with parents in the spiritual development of their kids and include people of all ages in the life of the church.
(Deuteronomy 11:18-21; Matthew 18:2-6; 1 Timothy 4:11-16)

Missions

Our Mission Field is Everywhere!
We are called by God to make disciples close to home, in our community, and around the world. We want everyone to experience the life-changing impact of sharing the love of Jesus Christ in the places we live, work, and play. We do ministry right here in our own backyard and partner with in-country led organizations doing ministry in places such as Haiti and Germany.
(Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8)

Teams

There Should Be No Lone Rangers in Ministry!
We are called to do ministry together and for one another. Pastors are not called to do all the work in the church, but to equip God’s people to do the work He has called, gifted, and equipped them to do. We are all gifted by God to serve one another and we have a responsibility to love and serve the people around us.
(Ephesians 4:11-12; 1 Peter 4:10; Mark 6:6-11)

“It’s not hard to make decisions when you know what your values are.”

What We Believe

Our By-Laws and Statement of Faith

Our values help you understand the guiding principles that we utilize to make decisions and fulfill the mission and vision that God has given us as a church. But there are two more important principles for you to explore and understand…

What Does Pinecrest Believe?

This includes our doctrinal and theological beliefs. As a non-denominational church, we have a core set of Biblical truths which we wholeheartedly believe, teach, and obey as fundamental to our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

We also understand there are non-essential, broader doctrinal issues that can have a range of interpretations and applications within the Christian Community and believe we should grant one another grace in these non-essential areas.

Our Statement of Faith (which you can read in detail in Article 11 of our By-Laws) clearly defines the essential Biblical truths we hold as essential to the Christian Faith.

How is Pinecrest Governed?

There are many different types of church governance in functional practice today. There is no clear right or wrong way to govern a church, but Scripture does give us distinctive guidelines including Elders and Deacons.

Our By-Laws also define our church governance model and the policies and procedures we have agreed to follow as a church body.

In short, we have an Elder Council that oversees the spiritual, theological, and doctrinal aspects of the church and a Leadership Council that handles the operational and functional aspects of the church.
